Website communities and staff
Run a community on Farm Sim Game without a Discord server, add staff from your friends, and choose what each staff role may see and change.
On this page
A community on Farm Sim Game can be a Discord server with the FSG Bot, or a website community with no Discord server at all. A website community gets the same community page, chat, listing, news and fan support. Its game servers post to its website chat.
Create a website community#
It's in your account menu.
Give it a name and a short description, then click Create community.
You land on Page & look. Then open Community listing to list it on the Communities page.
A website community doesn't need a Discord invite to be listed. You can own up to 5.
The Discord bot settings (welcome messages, moderation, tickets and the rest) need a Discord server, so they don't show for a website community.
Connect a Discord server later#
When your community gets a Discord server, connect it and the FSG Bot's Discord settings open up in your dashboard. Your page, address, chat, news, game servers, staff, followers, reviews and Premium all come along.
Sign in with Discord (or add Discord under Account › Sign-in methods), and add the FSG Bot to your Discord server from My Communities.
Pick your website community under My Communities. The Connect a Discord server card is at the bottom of its Dashboard.
Pick the Discord server, tick I understand this can't be undone and click Connect Discord server.
- Only the community's owner can connect it, and they need to own or manage the Discord server (owner, Administrator or Manage Server).
- If your community takes fan support, only the Discord server's owner can connect it, because fan support is paid to the community's owner.
- A Discord server that already has game servers, a community page or a community chat on Farm Sim Game can't take over another community. The list says why next to its name.
- After connecting, your game servers' Discord settings are on each server's Discord tab, and everyone who manages the Discord server can run the community too.
Staff and roles#
Open Staff & roles in your dashboard to see who runs the community and what each person may do.
- Owner: whoever made the website community. The owner can do everything, sets up the roles and can make another staff member the owner (they stay on as staff). The owner also sets up fan support, since it pays into their own Stripe account.
- Staff: you add staff from your friends. Add each other as friends first (from a player's profile or Friends), then pick them under Add staff and choose their role. They get a notice, and pick the community under My Communities.
A community can have up to 25 website staff.
Roles#
Every community starts with four roles you can change: Admin, Game Server Admin, Moderator and Page Editor. You can add your own, up to 15.
For each part of the dashboard a role gets None, View or Edit:
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Community listing | The listing on the Communities page |
| Page & look | The page's look, sections, address, roadmap and changelog |
| News, polls & events | Posts, polls and events on the page |
| Chat settings | Chat channels and roles, the chat filter, the Discord sync and chat tools |
| Moderate chat | Delete messages, time out and ban in the chat |
| Game servers | The game servers and their settings |
| Server power | Start, stop and restart game servers |
| Fan support | See the fan support page (only the owner changes it) |
| Staff | Add and remove staff. Staff can only give roles that don't go past their own |
| Discord bot settings | The Discord bot settings. Only people who manage the Discord server can give this |
With View, the page opens read-only: you can look but not save.
Discord communities#
Everyone who manages your Discord server (owner, Administrator or Manage Server) can always run your community here, with every permission. Staff you add on the website get only what their role allows, and only get the Discord bot settings if someone who manages the Discord server turns that on for their role.
